I want a new Mazda6 so damn badly. It sucks. Every time I see one, I just stare longingly. Good thing my car's tint is dark or I'd be known as a major creeper.

Damn this low-paying job and this poor town with no job opportunities.

Blame the baby boomers.

It amazes me how small of a company Mazda is, yet they produced this wonderful class-leading car. It's won awards, it's innovative, and extremely attractive! I really hope this car does Mazda well.

even the new mazda3 looks brilliant. This whole generation has killed it. I suspect an MS3 in the works after the new Miata has been out for a good six months or so.

I sort of know how you feel. I spent few hours the other day just online looking at aftermarket tunes and upgrades on Ford Fusion 2.0 engines.

I all of a sudden really, really, really want a Fusion Titanium...

It just blows. I went to college and earned a Bachelor's Degree and it was a monumental waste of time. I can't pack up and move to a big city since my grandparents depend on me and I'm the only family they've got around here. In this town, you either work a fast food or retail job, a cubicle job at a bank like I do, or you drive two hours a day to a factory and work sixteen hour shifts. There are literally no other options. Blahhhhh.

I just want that SkyActiv gorgeous was so badly. It is literally an almost perfect design for me. I just love everything about it. And they drive just as amazingly as they look, which doesn't help my wants. Le sigh.

Same boat here my friend. Less of the grandparents thing though.. I live in Denver which is a much better economy than most, so I can't complain I guess.. The topic in general gets under my skin. This article sums it up nicely.

With the refreshed 2016's on the way, maybe Mazda will have a hella good lease/discount on the 2015 models soon?

They were offering something like $300 a month back when I got my CX-5.

What sucks is that I could technically afford the payment on a mid-level Touring model (my only requirement is to have those sexy 19-inch wheels), but it just wouldn't be a wise financial decision. So, I can't bring myself (or, more importantly, my wife) to even entertain the notion.

Not only that, it's an amazing bargain too. One of the best cars in the segment, and it's also the second cheapest (even then, it only starts $40 above the Sonata). Mazda deserves to be killing it right now.

We own this car (2015) in the touring package with faux leather interior and 19-inch wheels, and it is really, really nice. The great thing is, it's one of the few affordable cars you can get in a manual with upper level trim. Leather(ish) interior and stick? Count me in.

I personally love the dark, understated interior. Handling is superb—confident, quick and predictable with that nailed to the floor feeling. There's no slosh or lean at all. The car gets terrific gas mileage (not that that matters in the era of $2 gas), but at the cost of an underpowered motor that disappoints at every launch. The six-speed manual lets you push things a bit, but this car is a long strider that doesn't respond all that well to the switch. Another 30 or so hp would go a looong way with this car.

At highway speeds, the 6 feels absolutely stable and planted past 90 mph (as far as I've taken it), albeit with plenty of road noise. I'm not a fan of the steering wheel, which feels thin and slick in my hands (though I'm accustomed to the Abarth's meaty tiller).

We bought the 6 as our family hauler and it's been great. The three kids fit comfortably in the back seat (our two boys are both 6'2"), and the front seats are very comfortable for long hauls. You can find used current-gen Mazda6's now below $15K. Hopefully you can get your hands on one before too long.

Be aware, tires for those 19s are going to be costly. I went with 17 inch winter wheels in part to avoid paying the steep premium for 19 inch snow tires.

Your want is well placed. They're the best FWD midsize car....in the world.

That said, maybe consider a used base model, and find a wrecked Touring model for the wheels and tires. Or after you've had the car for a while and it's time to replace the tires, get the 19" ones from the dealer (or, again, salvage) and use the factory set for snow tires (if you live in a climate that has such a need).

This is the wisest idea I've seen and more than likely exactly what I'll do. I could live without the 19s, because even the base models have reasonably attractive 17s and are decently equipped otherwise. And certified pre-owned Mazdas have a 100,000 mile warranty. Based on friends that have bought CPO Mazdas, the dealers tend to be fairly decent about covering repairs and such.
